Sorry for the lack in blogging but I have been a MAD woman. Mr. D and I closed on our first home two weeks after our wedding and it has been a whirlwind. The home was a “fixer-upper”. Between refinishing hardwood floors, painting and completely revamping the kitchen… let’s just say I have been a busy woman. The renovation has been a fun but stressful experience. Unfornuately Mr. D & I tend to buckle as couple under pressure… but we are fine just taking a temporary hiatus from the “honeymoon” stage. We move in this weekend and I cannot wait! I believe this home will bring us many memories and hopefully will be the home we take our first child to.

So please execuse the sporatic blogs but next week I should be back in full force.. until then I’ll show you a teaser shot from the wedding and one of my favorites yet!

“It’s all because two people fell in love…”

I know, I know.. another song but you’ll soon realize the importance of that verse. I decided to share with what few readers I may have at this point, how Mr. D & I got together. Lets rewind about 8 years to 10th grade science (yes, we’re young). Mr. D & I just happened to be lab partners a couple times that year. I would love to say that we fell in love and were high school sweethearts.. yada yada yada… no, not so much. I had a boyfriend all through high school. Mr. D had a girlfriend in 10th grade but after that stayed single and concentrated on baseball and being with the boys. I, on the other hand, had a steady boyfriend from 9th grade till the beginning of 12th grade. Three of my girlfriends all had long-term boyfriends as well, so this accounted for group dates all the time for every occasion. I had other friends but HS Boyfriend and I usually hung out with our core group of friends. Fast forward to senior year. HS Boyfriend and I broke up over the summer but promising that no matter what, we would go to our high school prom together. We had been to every formal dance together so it really only seemed natural to go with him. Well about two weeks before prom HS boyfriend and HS friend decide to start dating, and HS friend’s date for prom just happened to be… Mr. D! No, we didn’t just switch dates but needless to say Mr. D and I ended up getting ditched at prom together… haha tragic but meant to be. In the fall, I went off to college about a hour away but still secretly had a crush on Mr. D. We would always hang out when I came home for breaks and he would come visit but we never made it “official” until May, a whole year after our senior prom, Mr. D said and I quote “So are you my girlfriend by now or what”. Oh how I love his blunt clueslessness (haha I don’t believe thats a word).

So fast forward three and a half years, We get married. Mr. D is such a wonderful person. He is kind, sensitive but he is definately a man’s “MAN” fully equipped with the hunting, fishing and sports obessession. He works hard and loves his family, two things that are extremely important to us.

So, I will now explain why the Brad Paisley verse in the title is so important. As my MOH put it so elloquently put it in her speech, my Mr. D………

is a DEAD ringer for Brad Paisley. You think so?

So there you have it the twists and turns to matrimony, Mr. & Mrs. D style.

“Just a small town girl…

Living in a lonely world!”. Bursting out into random verses of 80′s music or any music for that matter is the perfect intro to my introduction into the blogging world. As a self-proclaimed blog-stalker for years, I finally decided to pay homage to the bloggers I’ve loved so dearly and start my own. As you can tell from my headline and I’m a newlywed! Wedding planning, one of the most intense journeys a woman or man could find themselves on where literally it comes down a series of small battles between you and the most threatening opponents of all sorts; the country club, the photographer, the florist, your family, your in-laws…you name it. Everyone takes the gloves off and there is no more ms. nice bride. I’m being dramatic of course but then again, perfect intro. During all this journey, I had a nice little haven where I could read about other brides like me who were fighting the monsters of wedding planning yet still had time to write about it, bless them.

My little slice of heaven right here on earth. I gained so much inspiration from these women, the bees’, I found myself check religiously up to 5 times a day for a new update. It seemed comforting to know that there were other brides out there, just like me. I must admit that here I am, 2 weeks post-wedding, still logging on a few times a day. I don’t want to miss their weddings! ahhh!

A lot of women have spoke about the “wedding blues”. You’ve spend months or years planning this day and in a flash it is gone. What do I do now? Well I am here to go through that journey. I’m blessed that my husband and I have a lot to go on to from here. A newly purchased home (we close this week::cross fingers::), wonderful family traditions, my graduation from higher education and the beginning of career paths, and basically becoming accustomed to being Mr. & Mrs. D.

I look forward to having this special outlet to show the ups and downs of the first year of marriage and making new friends through this blog!
